Leaders of Sustainable Biofuels to EU Council: Set 2G target
Prior to the European Council's voting on changes in the directive for renewable energy in transport a range of central, European advanced biofuels and aviation companies have sent a letter to the EU ministers, in which they ask the ministers to keep a target for advanced biofuels. Because unlike the EU Parliament the EU Council seems to have no target for advanced biofuels in its proposal.
When the EU Council is voting on its proposal on changes in the directive for renewable Energy in transport ambitions to limit 1st generation (1G) biofuels have been lowered.
Now, it seems like the EU Council will set a higher cap on 1G than the EU Parliament and avoid setting a target for advanced biofuels.
Especially the lack of target for advanced biofuels concern the members of the group Leaders of Sustainable Biofuels (LSB).
LSB stress that EU risk missing the opportunity to build an advanced and thereby more sustainable biofuel industry.
Therefore, LSB has written a letter to the ministers, where they ask them to set a target for advanced biofuels.
